On April 18 the first Baantjer movie premiered in the Dutch theaters and a unique and historical coffee machine of de Jong DUKE was featured in this movie.
Originally Baantjer is a Dutch police series based on the books of Appie Baantjer. The series has been broadcast during 12 seasons in the Netherlands and Belgium. In 1997 the show won de Gouden Televizier-Ring (Golden TV Ring) in the category ‘Best Dutch TV show’. The series was largely recorded in Amsterdam and broadcast in the Netherlands by RTL 4, RTL 7 and RTL Crime, and in Belgium by Een. At the time of broadcasting, Baantjer was the best viewed Dutch TV-series ever.
Following the successful series, Millstreet Films produced Baantjer The Movie. It is situated in the turbulent 80s in Amsterdam. Millstreet Films managed to reconstruct that period in a beautiful and realistic way. Because of de Jong DUKE’s long history, Millstreet Films approached us for a late ‘70’s, early 80’s coffee machine to use in the movie. This historical coffee machine, which is still fully operational, will also be featured in the new Baantjer TV-series which is now in production and to be released next year spring.
